Written by Dza Patrul Rinpoche, both texts summarise the main points on the path to liberation and their implementation. The first is a heart advice to his friend and disciple Kunzang Chögyal. As Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche explains,
It is the framework of the entire teaching of the Buddha, which includes all the śāstras written by Indian and Tibetan scholars and realised ones.
The second text, the Heart Treasure of Authentic Beings, is composed in the form of a beautiful poem and can be introduced in these terms:
It is the very summary of all the teachings of Buddha’s canon, and has three topics: the first deals with the degenerate way and intense suffering of the beings in this decadent time; the second with the view, meditation and action of both the Sūtrayāna and the Mantrayāna; and the third with the freedom from the ordinary worldly concerns.
Both texts are masterfully written pieces, challenging us to closely look at our mind and question our habitual way of thinking, offering a profound source of inspiration for all levels of Dharma practitioners.
